Everyone's health journey is unique, yet I have found that most individuals tend to follow a general path consisting of dysregulated and dysfunctional metabolic systems that progress towards disease symptoms.

Our task, now, is to learn to choose healthy behaviors that avoid this common path and lead you forward to a life supported by balanced, regulated systems that provide you with stable energy, mental clarity, and the physical abilities you need to take on your best life.

  • Learn how your dietary, movement, and other lifestyle patterns affect your body's ability to maintain balanced, regulated systems.
  • When supported by regulated systems, the body is able to maintain homeostasis and support you with energy, mental clarity, and a physical ability to take on life fully

  3. Key movement and exercise principles, including specific movement and exercise practices you can build into your lifestyle
  4. How to balance stresses in your life, including cognitive stressors along with exercise and other physical stressors

Along the way, you will also learn

  1. Physiological-based models of common pathways of poor health and disease, linking pathways of human health directly to behavior
  2. How to critically assess outside information (whether it's from a news story, another individual, or a study) before you apply it to your own self so that you don't waste any more time nor resources
  3. How to sort out a clear signal through all that health & wellness-related noise out there
  4. How to simplify your choices when it comes to healthy behavior, more effortlessly making healthy dietary and lifestyle choices that actually create beneficial and sustainable results.
  5. How to balance between your own intuition and external information (whether that comes from science, health expert, a book, or any other individual)
  6. How to look inside your own self for answers to what you truly need to best support your own health at this point in time

Meet Your Coach

Hi, I'm Katie - a biomedical engineer, health coach, and yoga therapist. I help individuals learn to make healthier decisions that best support their own health, mind & body.

And, I do it all with a blended approach that involves hard science, engineering problem-solving principles, and your body's own intelligence.

As a biomedical engineer, I've studied chronic, progressive disease for the past decade, working in research labs and industry to understand disease progression and develop technology that addresses later stages of disease.

However, what I want more than anything is for you to be able to make decisions that keep you away from a situation that involves a need for any medical intervention. *see note at bottom of page*

That's what brought me to study nutrition, biochemistry, exercise physiology, behavioral psychology, and many other fields that tie into human health. What I love more than anything is digging into the science, tying together complex topics while making sense of all this information in simple models of health and disease.

From here, one thing was missing. Science is powerful when it comes to understanding important information, but when it comes to creating health transformation, it is lacking in its ability to create that change.

That's what led me to yoga. Yoga provides us with clear practices that help us look within our own selves so that we can find the answers to what we really need to move forward towards better health and well-being. Combined with my experience with neuroscience and behavioral psychology, I have created a blended approach that calls upon scientific principles & hard data, combined with the art & craft that is integrating knowledge and action as you move forward through your health transformation.

By embracing your Journey to Better Health, you'll be able able to understand what healthy behavior looks like for your own self, mind & body, enabling yourself to follow through with those healthy decisions without all the anxiety and frustrations.

Along your Journey to Better Health, you will travel through 5 stages

Stage 1: Overcoming Dysregulation

  • It’s common for individuals seeking to become healthier to jump straight into the challenging work that is sorting through information and working to take aligned action with different diets and exercise plans. However, I’ve found that people end up going nowhere (except around and around in circles) if they haven’t yet done the work to regulate the key systems in their body controlling general functioning.
  • In this stage we look at two key systems: the nervous system and endocrine system, to ensure that you begin your journey to better health from a grounded space.
    • Nervous system: having the ability to take action aligned with your understanding of healthy choices is an essential piece of your journey to better health. However, if your nervous system is regularly putting you in a place where you feel out of control, then we need to address how you can get yourself back to a grounded and safe space from which you can take aligned action.
    • Endocrine system: having the energy to show up for the health challenge is an essential key piece to a successful health transformation. Unfortunately, most modern individuals have dysregulated metabolisms that provide low or fluctuating energy levels. Our first step may be to address key behaviors that can provide you with strong and stable energy to take on your health journey.

Stage 2: Understand Key Health Principles to support a healthy, regulated body

  • The number one problem I see and hear about from the health sphere is that there is too much noise. Diet and exercise culture has us over-saturated with information.
  • What we need is to step away from the overwhelm as we find a clear signal about what tends to be healthy for most individuals.
  • In this stage we focus on key healthy behaviors to help build a solid foundation of healthy habits.

Stage 3: Tune into the intelligence of your own body to find health solutions that best support your own self

  • Every individual is unique. What is healthiest for you is going to be different from what is healthiest for anyone else.
  • There are different ways that you can find answers to the question of what is healthiest for your own self – body and mind – but the best means by which you will find serious answers is by tuning into your own body.
  • Your body is constantly sending you signals about what’s going on. If you can learn to listen and understand these signals, you become capable of taking control of your health.

Stage 4: Dial into your specific health challenges using a wide variety of useful tools

  • When it comes to taking on your specific health challenges, it helps to have a broad toolkit from which we can pull from to address your specific needs.
  • In this stage, we use whatever we need (deeper mindfulness and embodiment practices, modern technology, deeper research, and more) to get you the answers you need to address your specific health challenges.
  • In this stage, we’ll also become more strategic about testing out these different ideas to find what practices best serve your health (and do it in a safe way).

Stage 5: Dig Deep into The Science for A Lifetime of Good Health

  • Understanding pathways of poor health and disease progression has been my passion for the past decade. With my extensive study of the human body from diverse perspectives (physiology, biochemistry, systems biology, nutrition, and more) I can help you understand the science of how disease progresses in the human body.
  • In this stage, we look at specific pathways of disease progression and tie them to your specific circumstances to help you make the healthiest decisions possible for your own body.
