About YHR

Are your health-conscious decisions truly leading to healthy outcomes?

Unfortunately, the world is filled with misinformation that leads individuals to make decisions that lead to unhealthy outcomes.

To remedy this, I developed The Reprogrammed Systems Approach to Healthier Living so that we can clearly understand how our behavior ties directly into pathways of good health vs. pathways of poor health and disease progression (an oversimplification to say things this way, I understand. But it gives us a starting place to talk about it).

But this wasn't enough. It isn't enough to clearly understand the science supporting (patho)physiology and disease progression. It is another thing, entirely, to step into a space of transformation.

This transformational space is what I now teach with my Less Stress, Healthier You Approach to Embodied Living & Holistic Healing.

The Reprogrammed Systems Models (which you can learn about below) showed me that there are three main categories of behavior-connected pathways that contribute to our state of health and well-being. They are:

  1. Nutrition (what we eat)
  2. Movement (includes, but is not limited to what we call "exercise")
  3. Stress (includes stress in all forms, including physical, mental, environmental/chemical, etc.)

These are all important groups of factors that link your behavioral power to your health & well-being.

Still, what I now know to be true is this:

That no amount of willpower to change your behaviors means all that much if it is simply adding stress: to you body, to your life, to your mind (doesn't matter, they are all intertwined).

In other words... yes, nutrition matters. Yes, exercise and movement patterns matter. Yes, we can certainly work together to support changes that impact your health and well-being.

However, we must begin by putting the fact that we (as modern human beings) are addicted to overly-stressful methods at the center of the work we do together.

We begin by examining how we hold stress and how we continue to enact stressful patterns on ourselves (especially when it comes to the way we approach lifestyle change).

From here, all else falls into place.

Hi, I'm Katie Hemphill, A Biomedical Engineer (B.S.E., M.S.) turned Health & Embodiment Coach

Years ago, I believed that all the answers to our greatest challenges exist in the realm of science & engineering, where we call upon our minds and technology to uncover and develop solutions that fix our problems.

I think differently today. Yes, I still love and honor the scientific process and the important truths that it points at. Yes, I still love and honor technological solutions that resolve problems and simplify our lives.

And, I recognize that our over-dependence on science & technology is, itself, a great problem.

The solution, in this respect, exists as we come into deeper connection with our own selves:

  • our own, direct experiences
  • our own, felt sensations
  • our own knowings

Here, we get to weave it all together as we carve out a new path of healthy living that puts you and yours needs & desires at the center, calling upon ALL of the brilliant sources of information available to us at the abundant point in time.

Real, Meaningful Transformation

Science and information systems provide beautiful means to help us make sense of the world we live in, which for our purposes here includes the health of our bodies and our ability to think about healthier choices.

However (and this is a BIG however), information means nothing if we can't put it to use in a way that bears fruit.

In other words, translating information into results becomes a second part of the process, one that asks that we step into a very different space.

My work in the world, today, looks very different than the days I spent building The Reprogrammed Systems Approach to Healthier Living.
