Key Principles of The Reprogrammed Systems Approach

Get started making healthier decisions

The Reprogrammed Systems Approach is based on a two-step process for learning to make healthy decisions.

It begins by understanding basic design principles of the human body, along with basic practices that are aligned with these biological principles.

Once these practices have been established in an individual’s life, the ability to make healthy decisions can be improved upon by diving deeper into all things related to physiology, poor health, and disease progression.

To get started right now, we begin with the first step: understanding basic design principles of the human body, along with simple decisions we can begin making today that tend to lead human beings towards good health.

The story of the human body: a summary

The human body is a remarkable biological design, developed over millions of years by evolutionary pressures, resulting in a species with capabilities this world has never seen the likes of before. By constantly adapting to an ever-changing world, our species became so remarkable that it not only took over the entire globe, but built its own separate world – a world based on science & technology, art & culture, and the many other facets of society completely novel to this universe.

Unfortunately, these later adaptations, including the design of our own industrial world, have their consequences. While this move out of the natural world and into the novel, industrial world is an incredible accomplishment, it has proven itself to have been a change with catastrophic consequences – those consequences including the health of the natural world, including the remarkable biological beings that is our own species.

The problem is that, as our species became well-adapted to the natural environments in which we had evolved (eventually leading to the development of special traits that allowed us to build our own world), we fundamentally changed the make-up of the environment we live in. This means that our species is no longer adapted to our environment, and when that is the case, natural selective pressures tend to step in.

However, this time around things are different, as our species has developed the ability to postpone death with technological advancements. While this is a true miracle that allows for extended lifespans, it does very little to address the underlying issue that is the dysregulation, dysfunction, and disease of the modern day human body.

Which brings us to the core problem at the root of our today’s society: poor health and modern disease, which arise due to the mismatch between the body’s natural design and the choices made by most individuals in the modern world on a regular basis.

Below are the key principles that can be used to understand how we can go about addressing the underlying issues, leading our own bodies away from this common path of poor health and modern disease and instead lead us down a path of good health.

Following these principles are the specific actions – the practices – that we can implement to actually create the change we envision.

The Supporting Principles of The Reprogrammed Systems Approach to Poor Health and Modern Disease

  1. The Human body is a complex, dynamic system capable of supporting itself when given the proper signals and resources
    • This complex system is made up of innumerable sub-systems working together in a dynamic to support the many demands of the body, as a whole.
    • This complex, dynamic system does not respond linearly to the inputs that it receives from the environment. This means that what we decide to send into it (signals or resources), the body will not necessarily respond with a 1-to-1 output.
  2. Modern Disease is the result of the progressive decline of the complex, dynamic system that is the human body.
    • As the sub-systems that support the human body lose their ability to perform their functions, the body heads down a path to poor health and modern disease.
  3. You, as a remarkable human being with a highly developed human mind, have the ability to make decisions that avoid (or even reverse) this path to poor health and modern disease and instead to direct yourself down a path that is a life of good health.

This life of good health is achieved using The Reprogrammed Systems Approach

  1. The process of Reprogramming your body is accomplished by understanding the basic design principles of the human body and then by taking aligned action with these principles
  2. This first step can be improved upon by digging in deeper to unravel the complex, dynamic system that is the human body, including how specific decisions tie into (patho)physiological pathways

The 3 Key Design Principles for Addressing Poor Health and Modern Disease:

1. The human body has been designed to consume real, whole foods. While the specific type of food may vary depending on the individual, as a species we thrive best by eating a diverse range of food – so long as it comes in its natural, unrefined form.

2. The human body has been designed to move regularly. Movement keeps the systems supporting the body function optimally. Sedentary behavior leads to the decline in these systems.

3. The human body has been designed to improve given a balance of stress and rest. However, when this balance is thrown off, the body not only does not improve, but instead begins to decline in health.

The 3 Key Practices to Get Started on Your Own Reprogramming Process:

  1. Build a diet based on real, whole foods
  2. Move your body regularly and dynamically
  3. Practice a Balance of Stress and Rest
