Poor metabolic health is the underlying cause of the extreme rates of obesity and chronic disease

Chronic disease arises as the body loses its ability to manage the balance of energy throughout the many systems supporting the complex functioning supporting one's health.

Maintaining a healthy body is challenging, and if the body cannot send the correct amounts of the right types of energy to each cell, tissue, and organ supporting your body, then these systems are not going to be able to function as needed to keep you healthy.

Meanwhile, that dysregulated energy may build up in unhealthy amounts or in irregular locations, causing direct harm to tissues and organs that creates debilitating (or even life-threatening) symptoms.

You can see why having a healthy metabolism is so important!

Unfortunately, the norm in this day and age is to be metabolically unhealthy, which means that most individuals do not have the energy they need to perform daily functions.

Meanwhile, this dysfunction progresses towards clinically relevant symptoms, at which point medical care is necessary.

Fortunately, learning behaviors that support your metabolic health is actually quite simple! And I can teach you everything you need to know.

Hi, I'm Katie, and I'm a biomedical engineer (B.S.E., M.S.), which means that I am trained to understand poor health and disease and to develop treatments that address health problems.

In the medical field, I work on technology to help manage symptoms of full-blown disease symptoms.

Here, I wear a slightly different hat. I am not here to help you address your medical conditions, but I can help you learn to make healthier decisions so that you have better odds of delaying or preventing disease.

Even better, I can help you understand how your behavior ties directly to your health as you experience it today, tomorrow, and for years to come, so that you get to more fully experience each day with more energy, greater mental clarity, and an overall enhanced physical ability to take on each day.

The challenge is that health and disease are complex sciences. Combine this with nutrition, exercise physiology, and other behavior-based sciences, and we have quite the recipe for information that goes far beyond that which most individuals have time to understand.

Fortunately for you, I've done the hard work that is working through the science to understand the most important behaviors that have the strongest influence on your health.

I am here to help teach you these behaviors so that you don't have to go through the hard work that is sorting out the complex science. Although, if you're interested in some of that science, I am thrilled to teach some of that too!

My Approach to Healthy Living

Health sciences are complex, but I want to be able to provide you with simple frameworks for understanding how your behavior leads to health outcomes.

To accomplish this task, I take a systems approach to understanding the health of the human body. Using this approach, I can help you understand how your behavior affects the overall health of your entire body, while also being able to zoom in on specific sub-systems (fat storage, blood sugar, liver health, hormone health, and more!).

In this way, we can work together to address specific health challenges, while also ensuring that any decisions you make supports the health of your entire body.

I am here to help you create change that leads to meaningful results.

No fluff. Just guidance on practices that work, while also providing the science you need (or any extra that you personally may be interested in).

The #1 problem I see time and time again in health coaching is the use of cherry-picked science to support a coach's personal framework. And while that may work for some individuals, it is not what is going to be healthiest for everyone.

My approach is different. I have spent the past decade immersed in the medical field focused on developing science-based technologies that are effective and safe for everyone.

While I'm not here to provide medical care, I take the same approach to helping you support your health. The health of your body is a serious matter, and I don't want to do anything that could lead to further harm, nor waste your time nor money.

That's why I am focused purely on practices that create real change. I am not here to sell you on the latest exciting fad diet nor sell you supplements.

I am here to provide information that will lead you through a positive health transformation.
