Hi there, I'm Katie, and I am here to help you understand your own human body so that you can make healthier decisions, and in turn, build a healthy body that is capable of supporting you as you go out and take on this life.

I am a biomedical engineer, health coach, yoga instructor, and outdoor adventurer.

What does all of this mean? Simply, that I am driven to understand challenges with the human body, research methods of overcoming these challenges, and am focused on taking action so that we can live out our lives with the healthiest bodies possible.

I believe that it is a true gift to be in with world with the amazing capabilities that a human body provides. Unfortunately, the modern world is set up such that the majority of us are suffering from poor health - which I define as the loss of function of the systems supporting the human body.

I am here to help us overcome the challenge that is living a healthy life while living a life in the modern world. It's a complex challenge - one that we need to approach with a well-thought-out strategy grounded in scientific principles, leaving room for some creativity as we figure out how to navigate this challenge for our own unique bodies.

That's what I have for you in this program: a strategy for overcoming the challenge of living healthy lifestyles in the modern world, along with a process that will take you through the journey to becoming a healthier individual.

Overcoming our own health challenges is a complex challenge: not only is the human body a vastly complex system, but each individual has their own unique lifestyle that has taken them to this point in time.

At each point in time, each individual is going to have their own specific problems - physical, emotional, cognitive - that define a specific set of challenges and impact their own ability to take on these challenges.

This is why we don't want a specific plan geared towards a unique set of individuals. Instead, we want an adaptive process that is going to allow each individual to work through their own unique challenges.

What's different about this program?

The challenge is that this is not a simple problem.

Let me explain.

Understanding the types of decisions that will lead to your healthiest body is not something that I can solve for you with a simple plan aimed at achieving a specific goal.

Rather, the problem is complex: that is, there are numerous factors that are regularly impacting your state of health, and depending on the design of your particular body (your genetics, epigenetics, current health status, etc), each of these factors (related to diet, exercise, stress, etc.) are going to have certain impacts.

This is why the traditional approaches to making healthy choices are lacking. These traditional approaches - the ones that sell you a simple plan with a promise to achieve a specific goal in a set period of time - are fundamentally flawed in that they are too simplified for the complexity of the problem at hand.

The first problem with this simplicity is that these programs are designed to work for a specific set of individuals. While this can lead to fantastic results for people that fit that box, it leaves the rest of us moving on from plan to plan with few achievements being made.

A second problem is that even if we do achieve these specific goals (we lost those 10 pounds, we ran that 10k, we completed the 5-day detox) - well, then what? What are we left to do when this specific goal has been accomplished so that we maintain our better health?

This second problem is that these simple programs tend to focus on one specific attribute of health that can be achieved short-term while ignoring the bigger picture that is good health, overall.

Combined, these problems lead individuals to jump from one plan to another with varying results that don't tend to last nor contribute to any sort of big picture goal.

While achieving specific goals is fulfilling and can absolutely improve an individual's health status, this scattered approach to building a healthy body that will support us for decades to come - it's simply not sufficient to help combat the problem that is avoiding the breakdown of the human body and the downward slide into modern disease.

To address these problems, I decided to take a different approach by taking a step back and thinking through what any individual would need to know to be able to take action that would create a healthy body.

Then, I put this information together as an on-going program that focuses on a process for learning to make healthy decisions for each individual's body. This way, it's not a step-by-step plan with a beginning and end to achieve one precise goal, but instead, a process based on developing a set of skills and knowledge that enable us to continuously make healthier decisions as we move through our lives.

The Reprogramming Process: A 4 Step Process of understanding what it means to make the healthy decision for your own body

I want to help you understand how your decisions directly impact the health of your own body. Meanwhile, I want to help make sure that you can take aligned action with this knowledge so that you create the healthy body that you envision.

Here's how:

Step 1: Understand your body as a complex, biological system
Step 2: Understand key principles regarding the design of the human body and put them into practice
Step 3: Get to know your own human body
Step 4: Understand primary pathways of poor health and disease progression

This process is focused on getting results that work for the individual based on what the individual needs most at that point in his or her life while staying centered within the big picture framework that is the health of the body, as a whole.

Here's how this process unfolds inside this program:

I want you to be able to begin taking action that will make you a healthier individual. And, over time, I want you to be able to make those decisions better and better for your own body.

I also want to equip you with an overall strategy for making healthy decisions so that you are not jumping from one idea to the next with mixed results that don't add up to any sort of real progress.

We can begin with the simple, obvious strategies that tend to work for most individuals. Then, once the big picture ideas have been understood and aligned action has been taken, we can acquire the knowledge and skills that enable us to understand specific diet and exercise plans that may enable us to achieve even better results or specific goals.

Why work with me?

Overcoming any health challenge begins by understanding what dysfunction is arising in the human body. From this place of understanding, we then need to harness an ability to take action.

I can help with both.

I am a biomedical engineer (B.S.E, M.S.), trained to understand human physiology and to address health problems with solutions grounded in scientific and engineering principles.

I am also a health coach and yoga instructor, trained to work through the challenges of unique individuals (just like you!).

What I want is to develop solutions to health problems that are grounded in the data. However, what I've learned, is that when it comes to addressing the full extent of our health problems, we need to go further. We can look to science for information that can help guide our decisions, but ultimately, what determines our ability to take action that matters - well, that requires something else.

That's why I branched out from the traditional path grounded in academia and industry, venturing into other perspectives to help learn how I can help us all figure out a process for creating change.

That's what we really need here - a process for creating change. The process that I have developed is grounded in science, but also calls upon wisdom from other fields.
